A day of knights, horses
FREMONT--Weibel Elementary School is set to host the CaliforniaScholastic Chess Grade
Level Championship April 29 and 30. The eventalso will serveas a PTA fund-raiser.
Last weekend, the school won first place in the K-6 junior varsity division at the
K-6 Northern California ScholasticChess Championships in san Rafael. The school also
won secondandthird places.
Weibel's Edith Yang tied for first in the K-6 junior varsity division and Rachel
Chou tied for third in the K-3 junior varsity division. Nathan Lee tied for third
place in the K-3 open division and Tov Fisher-Kirshner tied for fifth in the K-6
open division.
